Newsy News

Today's Musical Delight comes to us from Mark Romanek- one of the coolest music video directors there is. - the video itself
It's Johnny Cash's "Hurt" video, a cover of the old Nine Inch Nails song. Enjoy it for the video as well as the music. It's beautiful and an amazing little last melody from Mr. Cash. Romanek has done so many great ones, of course most recently 99 Problems, which is so freaking astronomically better than anything else Jay Z has ever done.

Johnny Cash

Here's the lyrics to 99 Problems-
If your havin girl problems i feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one

[Verse One]
I got the rap patrol on the gat patrol
Foes that wanna make sure my casket's closed
Rap critics that say he's "Money Cash Hoes"
I'm from the hood stupid what type of facts are those
If you grew up with O's and you zap the toes
You'd celebrate the minute you was havin doe
I'm like fuck critics you can kiss my whole asshole (favorite lyric, nice alliteration)
If you don't like my lyrics you can press fast forward
Got beef with radio if i don't play they show
They don't play my hits well i don't give a shit SO
Rap mags try and use my black ass
So advertisers can give em more cash for ads...fuckers
I don't know what you take me as
or understand the intellegence that Jay-Z has
I'm from rags to ritches nigga i ain't dumb
I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one
Hit me

99 Problems but a bitch ain't one
If you havin girl problems i feel bad for you son
I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one
Hit me

[Verse Two]
The year is '94 and in my trunk is raw
In my rear view mirror is the mother fuckin law
I got two choices yall pull over the car or
Bounce on the devil put the pedal to the floor
Now i ain't tryin to see no highway chase with jake
Plus i got a few dollars i can fight the case
So i...pull over to the side of the road
And i heard "Son do you know why i'm stoppin you for?"
Cause i'm young and i'm black and my hats real low
Do i look like a mind reader sir, i don't know
Am i under arrest or should i guess some mo?
"Well you was doin fifty five in a fifty four"
"Liscense and regestration and step out of the car"
"Are you carryin a weapon on you i know alot of you are"
I ain't steppin out of shit all my papers legit
"Do you mind if i look round the car a little bit?"
Well my glove compartment is locked so is the trunk and the back
And i know my rights so you gon' need a warrent for that
"Aren't you sharp as a tack are some type of lawyer or something?"
"Or somebody important or somethin?"
Nah i ain't pass the bar but i know a little bit
Enough that you won't illegally search my shit
"Well see how smart you are when the K-9's come"
I got 99 problems but a bitch ain't one
Hit me

[Chorus X2]

[Verse Three]
Now once upon a time not too long ago
A nigga like myself had to strong arm a hoe
This is not a hoe in the sense of havin a pussy
But a pussy havin no God Damn sense, try and push me
I tried to inore him and talk to the Lord
Pray for him, cause some fools just love to perform
You know the type loud as a motor bike
But wouldn't bust a grape in a fruit fight
The only thing that's gonna happen is i'mma get to clappin
He and his boys gon be yappin to the captain
And there i go traped in the kit kat again
Back through the system with the riff raff again
Fiends on the floor scratchin again
Paparatzi's with they cameras snappin them
D.A. tred to give the nigga the shaft again
Half-a-mil for bail cause i'm African
All because ths fool was horrasin them
Tryin to play the boy like hes saccarin
But ain't nothin sweet 'bout how i hold my gun
I got 99 problems but this bitch ain't one
Hit me

[Chorus X3]

You're crazy for this one Rick
It's your boy

OK- So why is this post entitled NEWS??
There's lots of news trucks all over Hoboken to report on the storm and flooding. And every morning before work I watch Fox 5 News cause it's the best. All of the on air talent is so charismatic, and every day they go and do neat things around the city. And this morning the hottest and nicest weather man ever, Mike Woods, was in Hoboken! So of course I didn't take the shuttle this morning and walked out to say hello. And I did. He's so dreamy! But I was so smitten I forgot to take a pic with him, but I did take a pic of him. PS- other Fox 5 news person to watch- Teresa Strasser- she's awesome. I really think she has a bigger better future in TV and is a rising star in the making. I think she could successfully run a "Late Night" show, which has been male dominated forever. Her website:

And my basement/backyard are fucked up so party plans changed again. They are just going to be at City Bistro in Hoboken on Saturday night.

And I suppose the most positive thing on my mind is something that my boss said to me yesterday, when talking about an upcoming commercial, I had given some feedback, and he said- "See, you've got a director's instinct." Hmm. A director's instinct? I can deal with that. As much as the amount of "downtime" I have here can be a real downer, I know I want to stick around. It's an inside look at a world that is so freakin hard to get an inside look at.

And many people tell me that they are readers of this website. Well where are your comments then? Don't be shy. Or continue being shy. And I'll just be a sad little kitty.

And a question- what do I do with "the music" from the breakup. We had music we would listen to, great mix cds he made for me. And when I hear a song that's something we listened to, or from bands we liked/he liked, and I like them- do I avoid them? I am listening on MTV radio this one rare song is playing that he put on the CD, and it's a great song, but it feels kind of like I am looking at a photo album when I listen to it. I hope these songs will just stand on their own to me as good in themselves. Yet another thing I don't know how to respond to.

Oh man, and as much as I wish to stop talking about him, I can't resist. One thing that's hard for me is how attracted to him I was. I thought he was so beautiful. My own personal Helen of Troy. I know that's hard for a lot of you to see. He's the kind of guy that my friends have said- what the hell do you see in him? about. But he's some magical formula of exactly what I like- minus his many bad hair days and minus Brad Pitt's body. I can't tell if I thought he was so beautiful because I loved him and saw what I wanted to see, or if he really is good looking. I do remember when I first laid eyes on him he stood out to me, but he did seem really ordinary- maybe that was just his personality or lack thereof shining through. Oh god do I have a thing for quiet boys. Quiet always drives me wild! That and shy, interested smiles, the kind where they turn toward you and kind of look up, give a sneaky little smile, and then turn their eyes away. Works better than Spanish Fly!
